Be Careful How You React to Things…It Could Be Quite Harmful
Our views and perceptions often times dictate the way we react to daily situations, which in turn bring about the results that we most definitely do NOT want to experience. You see, it is really all about the way that we react…good reactions will bring good results…bad reactions will bring bad results.
I’ve learned something very important about myself lately…as I continue to focus on improving myself, I have noticed immediate and quite positive results. It takes a shift in how you view the outside world, but more importantly…how you react to the happenings of the day.
Unless you were lost on some deserted island for about a decade, you are well aware that things just are not very optimistic as far as the economy goes. But, depending on how you react to the current situation, this does that have to hold us back! In fact, too many people just blindly believe that since the television news reported it, it must written in stone somewhere.
The media seems to thrive on causing people fear and anxiety. They attempt to put the very worst spin on practically every news story that they report. What is it that attracts people to the dark, negative and very harmful side of life? Is it within your power to break away from this dangerous and detrimental path? It is most definitely within your power! And, it is imperative that you stop following the ‘masses’ and start thinking for yourself, sooner rather than later
Start becoming accountable for your actions and for your thoughts. It is your responsibility to turn off the news, or if someone is watching it in your presence…walk away! When the next discussion about how awful the situation is in the world comes up…do yourself a big favor, and do not join in. Stop putting blame on others for actions that only you can control, and things will improve drastically in your life. Try it…I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how simple it becomes with just a little practice on your part.

Hi Joann,
I completely agree with you, I’m one of those people who doesn’t buy into media hype, and I stopped trusting the media some time ago.
Sure I keep up to date with what’s going on in the world, but I come to my own conclusions, and I don’t let anything I see or read in the news get me down.
I used to suffer from depression a few years ago, and that was because I used to let other people get me down.
But these days I don’t let anyone, or anything get me down, and I have a very positive outlook on life… And guess what, I very rarely get depressed any more.
Great post!
Paul.

Hello Paul,
Thanks for stopping back to visit me-it’s nice to ‘see’ you again.
Too many times, I have found myself getting caught up in all of the nonsense that surrounds me on a daily basis. It takes an awful lot of discipline to be able to ‘detach yourself’ from all of that negativity, but if you do NOT remove yourself…you can not effectively move forward.
These economic times are trying for the majority of people, but we can choose how to react to things, and that choice will either move us forward, or keep us stuck exactly where we are! It really is OUR choice!
Take care of yourself, Paul-I wish you ALL of the success that you desire!

Vance Sova says:
Hi Joann,
The subject that you bring up in your post should be discussed at least once a week by everybody instead of watching TV.
I used to believe that the media was to blame for the focus on negativity.
But they are just doing it because the masses want to watch it and listen to it. The media gives people what they want.
Apparently positive news doesn’t sell and the media would go bankrupt if it focused on that.
So it’s every individual’s responsibility to guard their mind against negativity. I read somewhere that negativity happens automatically.
In order not to be negative each person needs to actively focus on the positive and act accordingly.
The masses aren’t doing it and they watch the TV the most.
Now I’d better go and make sure I don’t fall into the negativity trap myself.
Somebody, probably a deranged person has scratched my car all around except for the back. Whoever has done it was definitely not positive. A random act of vandalism.
Luckily there are still sane people around. It is our job to remain sane and positive.
Thank you for doing your part.

Hi Vance,
Thanks so much for coming back to visit, it’s always nice to ‘see you’! Thank you also for being able to see the big picture, unfortunately like you said, ‘the masses’ do not quite get it.
It really is much easier to just flip out, but that starts a chain reaction of negativity and NO ONE wins then. It takes a lot of self control, to say the very least.
I am so sorry to hear about your car…THAT will try you, that is for sure! I hope that they catch the people who are responsible!
Stay strong and positive, Vance…you will be the winner in the end because of that!
Take care-I wish you all of the success that you desire!

I agree with your here. We are totally responsible for our own view of things. Life will unfold as it has to and we should never react to it, rather, we should be observant and learn from it.
Our outside world is merely the reflection of our inner world.

Beautiful…I certainly could not sum it up better than you have…
It is REALLY difficult at times to remember some of these lessons, but it is so important to ‘let things roll off of you’…because if you don’t, those things have the potential to eat away at you and destroy your happiness.
Thank you so much for your enlightening comments-I appreciate them!
I wish you the very best-take care of yourself!

Hi Joann
I so agree with your post and the comments. If you listen to what the reporters say every day you could drive yourself into total depression!
Positive thinking reaps positive results and as Mick commented ‘what goes around comes around’ – Karma – if you put out positive energy others around you feed off it and they become positive.
I do know what you mean about all those emails from the ‘Gurus’ – everyone is so into hype – I have unsubscribed from most of the lists I signed up to – I was just getting bombarded with one after the other of ‘this is the next best thing to sliced bread’! Hope the article writing is paying off and things are going well.
Regards – Barbara

Hi Barbara,
Thanks so much for those nice comments. And, yes…I totally believe that the USA would be much better off not watching the news, because the media LOVES to play on peoples emotions. Nothing like a ‘frenzy’ as far as they are concerned.
I almost HATE to give out my email address anymore, because it seems as though the emails are non-stop from some of these people. Then, I just drop to the bottom of the page and hit the unsubscribe link…Bye Bye!
I am so glad that you came by, Barbara – Thank You!
Take care of yourself – I wish you the very best!

Hi Joann, I get so disgusted in the news that is reported. I get to hear, in my own home, the awful side of humanity…more so than the good side. Heck,, I don’t even take the paper.
It’s the smallest changes we make in ourselves, over a period of time that will generate a changed whole person.
Great thought,

I hear what you are saying…there is WAY too much negativity, and the press (both written and TV) continue to play on people’s fears. I just do not understand why we can’t hear some GOOD STUFF sometimes! I just try to ‘tune out’ of all of that, and go about my business…that works!
I wish you the best, Mike-take care,

Joann,
Very inspirational post! I couldn’t agree with you more and I also believe in karma. We all need to take responsible for all of our actions.. I really liked what you said about living in the present!
Joann says:
Hello Justin,
Thanks very much for that nice comment-I appreciate it very much. We all get caught up in things that tend to make our lives difficult, it is only human. The problem with that, is we dwell on things, and the more we do that…that’s what we get more of. Sometimes, we just have to shake things off for our own good, and just move forward.
And yes, wouldn’t it be a great world if we could all take responsibility for everything that we do?
Take care of yourself, Justin-wish you the very best!
